Empirical Results for High-definition Video and Augmented Reality Content Delivery in Hyper-connected Cars

Abstract Software architecture and applications for the connected car can process share a variety of digital content, among which high-definition video augmented reality (AR) toward enhanced driving assistance, navigation infotainment systems services. However, several technical challenges need to be overcome make such services viable efficient, including dealing effectively with types systems, devices platforms, either installed inside vehicle or represented by personal mobile wearable drivers passengers. In this paper, we outline these propose software solution in form an event-based middleware layer modeling smart, as specific type smart environment. We employ adapted version Euphoria, recently introduced general-purpose environments, implement asynchronous communications heterogeneous input/output vehicle. also adapt Euphoria fit into four-layer infrastructure model car. conduct evaluation request-response time performance achieved streaming content from 1 Mbps (360p@30fps) 32 (4K@30fps) on various devices, integrated vehicle, not but used outside (the control condition). Our results show effective live 2K at 30fps 600 network (i.e., car) 4K 1.7 Gbps envisioned hyper-connected vehicles. These open up opportunities AR automotive industry.
